The Biggest of Welcomes: ECO's New Executive Director!

ECO's new Executive Director, Gwendoline Van Doosselaere.

We are thrilled to announce that Gwendoline Van Doosselaere has been welcomed onboard as the permanent Executive Director of Ecology in Classrooms and Outdoors. Having served as Interim Executive Director since May 2015, Gwendoline already felt like a member of the ECO family, and we couldn't be happier to have made it official.

These past months with ECO, Gwendoline has focused our efforts to bolster and streamline our internal systems: amplifying our fundraising and grant writing efforts, diversifying our staff and board, pursuing alternate streams of revenue - all of which ultimately creates a stronger ECO. And of course, a stronger ECO can offer more to our community.

With her extensive background in communications and implementation of organizational systems, Gwendoline is more than prepared to lead ECO into a new era of growth and responsiveness. In the coming years, ECO will:

  • Bring more hands-on ecology enrichment programs to Portland area elementary students
  • Create curriculum kits + trainings to reach students both inside and outside our service region
  • Partner with more nonprofit and governmental organizations to offer new service-learning opportunities to our ECO students
  • Be recognized as a thought-leader in environmental education

The board and staff at ECO offer a heart-felt welcome to our new leader, Gwendoline Van Doosselaere, and we hope you will as well. Onward!
